unanimous decision? OMG!
June 15th, 2009 at 6:05 am
Damn, first of all at most it was a draw, no doubt about it, Franklin shouldnt ´ve the unanimous decision. The fight was thight.
2.- I see that Wand isnt at his best shape any more, im a great fan but i dont know if it was the weight lost or what but this guy looked so exausted at the end of 2nd round not to mention the 3rd. i really can say his not the same than even a year from now. in that shape he wont be a match for anderson silva.
3.-really it looked like a sparring sesion. I dont know if dana told this guys to give a good show but not hurt each other but i didnt see wanderlei with his furius determination not even with his killin stear as usual when he fights. Personally i think i hop more from this figth it was a little dissapointing.

I say split decision to Franklin
Round 1 – Franklin no doubt
Round 2 – Franklin cuz he dropped Silva 2 times, even though Silva landed a big right that wobbled Franklin, Franklin never went down.
Round 3 – Silva, even though Franklin got the takedown, he didn’t do any damage there.
Wand will always be one of the greatest of all time, and this fight just shows that Franklin belongs on the top shelf of MMA fighters all time as well.

I have to agree with Hoichi on this. It was a very close fight, but I think Franklin did enough to win it. I can’t give it Wanderlei based on a few hard punches that he landed. Franklin controlled almost the whole fight and was picking Wanderlei apart for most of it.

thats bull man wand should have won because he got the second and then he should have on the third because he was giving him some good punches

Man! Great Fight! Round 1 was Rich do to Wand having more damage. Round 2 is a tie do to both getting knockdowns and round 3 is a tie do to both giving all and neither one getting dominated. Rich wins this one due to round 1. IMO

No doubt Wand is one of the greatest ever, but he’s not the same. Hasn’t been since Hendo dropped him. He’s looked tentative in every fight since he’s been back in the UFC except maybe for the Jardine fight. I guess the brightest stars burn twice as fast.
This one looked closer than it really was. Franklin was more active, more accurate, and in control for longer periods in both 1 and 2. Wand was far more active in 3 but was so gassed he couldn’t be effective. Wandy can have 3 based on aggression, but you can’t give him 2 based on a few seconds of flurries where he landed a few square shots with no major effect. It’s not enough.
And there’s a huge difference between “evading” and “running”. Franklin wasn’t running. He was engaged the whole time.
I hope Wand can get comfy at 185 and make some more noise before it’s over, but based on how he’s looked recently, looks like it’s downhill from here.

Thanks for posting this. I thought Franklin won this hands down. I am wondering what is left for Wanderlei???
July 5th, 2009 at 11:13 am
to who ever thought wand won your obviously aren’t martial artiest your selves and don’t know much about mma just like watching to men slug it out in a cage rich controlled the entire fight with great foot work always attacking always putting pressure on wand now in the second round since that’s the most debatable one wand did rock rich with a good flurry but that was it you don’t win the round of one good flurry rich pick him apart knock him down 3 times in that rich never went down and wasn’t really touched besides the two shots that rocked him and the 3rd round wasn’t even close wand was tired never got any thing off rich fought the perfect fight against a heavy handed brawler pot shot move and counter based off aggression and octagon control and out striking his buy a lot and damage because if you look at both fighter rich doesn’t even look like he was in a fight he could have went 3 more could wand????

man close fight edge to franklin…but the younger wand would have destroyed franklin

Unanimous decision does not mean you have to win every round. Too many people think that. It just means that all of the judges saw it the same way. It can be a close fight and still have a unanimous decision victory for a guy. You also cannot score a round 10-10. I see so many people saying thats a 10-10 round. The point of a 10 point must scoring system is so that someone wins every round as long as there are no penalties.

Wandy did win this fight, 29-28. 2 of the judges f*cked it up 30-27 for franklin. Obviously they wanted to make up for the blown decision against Hendo which I believe frnaklin did win. Y didnt they announce the scores of the fight? B-cuz at least 2 judges scored the bout 29-28 for Wandy, and then the rig came in. Wandy got robbed and jobbed for sure!!

kyle, 10:10 rounds are certainly possible. look up the rules
August 25th, 2009 at 4:00 am
