I love Brandon Vera. He couldn’t even fight because Randy had him pinned against the fence the whole time. Randy knew he would get hit if he let Brandon go. I love to see him dance at the end of his fights. He’s awesome. He will come back and win…… He is so cute too !!!!!! Love you Brandon…..

Personally, there were no losers as far as ranking and greatness. Brandon Vera did what he needed to do. Obviously, there really is no actual game plan, but he knows what he needs to do to win (or to fight). He managed to hurt Randy Couture right at the start of the first round, then again in the second, then once again in the third.
The first round was from that strike to the head; the second was the body kick, which doubled over Couture. Couture even noted that particular kick. The third round had yet another body kick, but was not a devastating.
Couture did what he needed to do to pull out a win. He does this for practically every fight. He will smother his opponent, take him down as often as possible, and use his outstanding wrestling skills and Ground N Pound to work over his opponent.
Vera was giving Couture all he could, by stuffing each take down attempt. Vera is very good. He always has been, so when these two were pegged to fight eachother, this was probably going to be a good fight. Maybe not the most exciting one, but that’s because grappling is not the most exciting form of the MMAs.
This fight could have gone either way, but Couture pressed the action, and had created the Octagon control. Vera hurt his oponent in all three rounds and his strikes and kicks were on par for a victory, even if he lost. He is still one of the best fighters in this weight class and he is asking for another top 5 fight. Couture also is willing to fight any one. Both fighters are two of the better fighters in MMA.

but he didnt do any of those in this fight, just pressed brandon against the cage for 3 rounds.

I love both guys. but I feel for VERA… I would give randy the benefit of the doubt, but there was just no room to even think he had the slight advantage on any of the rounds.

Brandon did the most damage in every round. Randy wanted to take Brandon down and faailed, but Brandon took Randy down twice. Brandon controlled the stand-up battle and knocked Randy down with a kick and hurt Randy at the gate. Although Randy pushed Brandon against the cage for three rounds so that he would not get hit, winner “Randy the pusher.” Age before skill.

kars, you are right. The only thing he did was smother his opponent. He never took him down, although he did try. In reality, Vera did the most damage. Octagon control was the determining factor, most likely. That was all he did. Vera should have kept him at bay, because him having his back to the cage didn’t do him any favors. I agree with you and I think Vera won the fight, but it was close. Close enough for his wife, Kerry to handle her business in a few days when she takes on Couture (Kim). You are aware of this upcoming fight, aren’t you? Kind of funny, the wives fight next.
