Well, perhaps now we all can appreciate what Lyoto Machida has done for our sport (MMA). What I appreciate most is the fact that Machida humbled Rashad Evans. I hate showboats and that is exactly what Evans was. A stinking showboat. Nobody likes a showboat! Also, we see how precise fighting can outshine luck. Evans is a sloppy fighter, who lucks out with landing the haymaker. Anyone should be able to do that. But how many can pick apart another fighter the way Machida did to Evans?
Honestly, I was glad to watch Machida put Evans in his place. Too bad Machida isn’t the type to prance around in front of Evans the same way Evans does his opponents. Watching how Evans prances around during his fight against Machida, I couldn’t wait until Machida picked him apart. I hate anyone who prances around, showing they must have spent months in front of their mirror, just loving how pretty they look. And Evans is not a handsome man, either. Imagine all that showboating Evans did was practiced in front of his mirror? Seriously, thing about it. How else would he be able to perfect his showboating and prancing? He’d have to practice in front of the mirror.
That is probably what I hated most; the fact that he spent part of his training in front of the mirror instead of the mat or hardwood flooring. I, myself, trained on hardwood. Think about it; if you know a fight is upcoming, do you say to your opponent: “Stop, I’ve got to lay down mats”? No. Mats are good, but I preferred the hardwood. I remember our CA Governor: get into the pain. Well, lastly, Machida took care of business and if you watched, maybe you, too, can appreciate his fighting style now. Very appropriate, eh? –rty
