fingers what the hell are you on, it was two different tournaments with two different rule sets. In this tourney neck strikes etc were allowed, in the shamrock fight they werent, therefore gracie got the win as is his right for his opponent breaking the rules.

I recall a match with Frank Shamrock, when Shamrock kneed Gracie in the back of the neck, and Shamrock was disqualified for it. Of course, Cesar was allowed in the Octagon, posing as Renzo's manager, complaining about illegal blows to the back of the neck. Come on guys... Just like Frank said: I thought we came here to fight. Needless to say, Renzo took the easy way out, by stating he was simply too dizzy to continue. His vision was too blurred as a result of the illegal knee. Okay, whatever you say. Gracie's blows to Spijkers were far more serious than those love taps by Shamrock. He could have gone full force, just like Gracie did. My belief is Gracie should have continued and if he was unable to do so, then award the victory to whoever is left standing. Only fair. By the way, I was amused by Gracie's (attitude) fight with Ben Spijkers. He was angry at his foe and he sure enough showed it, didn't he? --rty

That wasn't anything more than a little love tap on the back of his neck especially when head butting and crotch striking were legal at the time.I can't believe this supposedly even a big F'ing deal!

That was a FIGHT. Go for the balls and the back of the head. Fighting is about ruthlessness and savagery, not prissy rules. And that neck stomp sent a message to his next opponent.
