I don’t see the big controversy. I have Melvin winning the first two rounds and Tibau winning the last one. If he did a lot of damage from the top positions, then he would deserve a 10-8 for the last round, but there was very little damage and were very few sub attempts. They don’t score based off Jiu-Jitsu rules.

freddy, I agree with you. Melvin was doing really well the first 2 rounds. Third round to Tibau. Melvin wins.

Don’t see how Tibau didn’t win rnd 1 and 3 10-9. Guillard gets a close 10-9 in rnd 2. But Tibau was the aggressor in Rnd 1 always working for the takedown???

That good fight, that unexpected result, absurd and disgraceful to the UFC!

holy shit… tibau totally won the fight. That is complete bullshit. Tibau was the aggressor during the whole fight and pushed the pace. Also took him down atleast 8 times.

That’s why it was a split decision, it was a very close fight. Melvin eek’d out a victory on my scoresheet.
round 1 was Melvin and I thought it was his best round. Yes, Tibau took him down but Melvin got right back up each time and also landed the more meaningful shots.
Round 2 was all Melvin and even took Tibau down.
Round 3 you have to give it to Tibau since he “laid” on him the entire round, didn’t really attempt any punches until the last 10 seconds and when I replay it above Melvin dodged every last one of them. So minus the “smoke and mirrors” Tibau didn’t do any damage the entire round and only wins it for being on top.
Overall Melvin wins 2 of the 3 rounds in a very close fight. You could have gave Tibau the first round but based on the slam but everything else was all Melvin.

I just watched this fight again. There is no way Guillard won the first 2 rounds. RND1 they were even on strikes and Guillard was taken down twice. RND2 was closer but it was more of the same. I’d say evens. RND 3 no contest – Tibau. Overall, Tibau pushed the fight Guillard defended throughout the fight. Tibau easily won this fight.

bad decision, he obviously won rounds 1 and 3…

That’s the worst decision ever!!It was a f****n’ illegal robbery!!If I was Tibau I’d have appealed
