SHOGUNNNNN

2

Shoooogunnnn… Yeh you can say that when you watch Soccer game. All he did was mostly kick the legs. No devastating punches.

3

No devastating punches? Did you see the cuts on Lyota’s face at the end of the fight? Lyota got hit more in the head and he got hit harder in the head.

Machida has won more than half of his fights to decision. His “style” involves running away from the other fighter until the end of the fight. How devastating…. lmao

4

Yes knocking Thiago Silva out in the first round and Rashad in the secound of a five round fight is waiting till the end of the fight.

But really i thought Shogun won the fight when i initially watched it. Then when Machida said if you watch it without the American commentators you see it in a different light. And it was true. I can definitely see how Machida won the fight. Still very close though.

5

you think machida won because shogun only kicked him in the legs but shogun landed kicks to the body legs elbow and punches and you have no idea how much thoose leg kicks hurt if he kicked you once in the leg or body you would be on the floor crying for your mommy

6

ok connor, but there is a scoring system set up stating that leg kicks are worth less than punches to the head or body…

7

If its worth less, even after all those body and leg kicks, it still doesn’t match up to 1-2 punches? I like Lyoto, but to be honest, Lyoto lost the fight. Even without the commentators, I can watch it on mute and still say Shogun won. Lyoto is acting as if he won, he just doesn’t want to admit he lost the fight. Even though he won the fight by the judges decision, everyone knows Shogun really won that fight. I’m not picking sides either. Just telling the truth who won or not.

8

I really like both these guys, but nethier of them left it all out there. Neither went all out. And now neither of them are standing up and saying what needs to be said. In Shogun’s case he should say, you know what I shouldn’t have left it up to the judges, I should have finished him. And for Lyoto, he should say that Shogun was more of an opponent than I expected and he won’t leave any doubts for fans next time.

Just my 2 cents.

9

I agree completely with what you say Rezalution.

10

I watched the fight 3 times and every single time I felt Machida won. He carried out his game plan, put Rua in danger several times with flurries and was never in danger himself. Yes Rua landed some very hard punches and kicks, but he never put them together in combinations that would have ended the fight. The leg kicks while clearly painful did not obviously disable Machida. Rua did not succeed in his game plan and in the final rounds while he was more sucessful, did not even come close to sealing a victory nor did he press the fight trying. Machida was clearly fatiguing at the end and Rua looked fresh, but there is no 6th round and Rua did not push the pace at the end.

Rua was a much better opponent than I think most expected and they should have a rematch but Machida rightfully remains the champion. Joe Rogan is usually a great announcer and analyst, but here he seemed to be watching a different fight.

11

You can’t beat a Champion with leg kicks. You might in “Tekken” but not in real life.

12

Your stupid as hell lucifer thats why lyotos rib is broken and he has to rehab both his fucking legs i checked stats for the fight the next day shogun doubled lyotos hits and did more damage all around so dont even say leg kicks cant win you a fight

13

Well it looks like leg kicks didn’t win him the fight Theo.

14

Well theo, sho gun hardly kicked him the legs and a lot les ifyou watch it on mute. Also sogun was afraid to ge hit. I watched the fight on mute cause I had to my speakers were not woking, but I watched again today with them talking and they are for shogun before he even came out. and if you listen to joe rogan he never said either way like goldburg did. Also I have been kicked in the legs and in a fight like that for 25 minutes it does nothing but make you watch out forthem. now the next day you may hurt that 25 minutes your not. What hurt him was the knees in the thighs. Also one elbow never hit machida and the other was when the ref brokethem up so it was a cheap shot. Machida won the damn fight so why dont all you getover it and move on.

16

yup to Lucifer,Geo-
and rezolution

17

whoever kicked you for 25 minutes was weak, cuz a proper leg kick will leave you limping or drop you. in any case i feel shogun won that fight because overall activity. machida is a counter striker which is why he runs away in all his fights, and if you try to bully him he’ll turn it on you with his unorthodox strikes and trips which is why he was able to KO thiago in the first, and evans is an idiot for talking in the middle of a flurry. the scoring is also bs how are leg and body shots worth less than jabs to the head?

the only way to take out a counter striker is to apply so much pressure they break or to beat them at their own game, we’ve seen where the bullies have ended up against machida so shogun playing his game and trying to out point him was the only possibility that anyone has tried yet. shogun couldn’t chase him for 5 rounds trying to knock him out because machida would just run and jab for 5 rounds like he has for his entire career, what shogun did was the only real chance of beating machida anyone has because he’ll just evade to a decision otherwise.

18

now that lyoto is out for a while i’ll tink of the next shogun as his first tile defense

19

I think this was a really tough fight to score for anybody. I think Machida won the first two, and Shogun won the last two. The third round was the most exciting round for me because Machida stepped up his game with some good punches. Shogun was winning the third round up until that moment. So it could’ve gone either way. If punches are worth more than kicks, then yes, I think Machida won the third round.

I am a Machida fan, I do not mean to be bias.

20

It was a close fight, it’s done and over with, move on and get over it. They both are good and we all wish it didn’t end the way it did but it did. People are so cruel, before the fight almost everyone was cheering for Machida and then when they announced the results, almost everyone turn against him.He just went in there and did his job but his opponent is very good and when u really think about it Machida is really the UNDER DOG in this fight. Shogun really just had one loss in my book, I’m not counting the lost he had with Mark Coleman in Pride, and I’m not really counting his loss to run Forrest guy, because the man had been out of action for years with knee operation and gas in the fight. Look we are all going to get to see a rematch,it’s going to be damn interesting.Once again people MAchida just went in there and did his job, he had nothing to do with the judging. This fight really was a close fight,it really could had gone either way.

21

To be honest, it was a very controversial fight and made worse by Joe Rogan being pro-shogun.
Since the fight was very close, I think a draw would have been the fairest result, but i dont think a title should change hands when the match is that close.
Shogun had the upper hand but very marginal, he couldnt even get a take-down and gave up trying after a few attempts.
For the record, leg kicks can cause damage (ask Rampage Jackson), but it doesnt do much on the score cards.
The rematch would definitely be exciting.

22

shogun won that fight if you are to go to fight metrics than it clearely states that shogun not only got off more but he also landed the more devestating shot to the head and body lyoto machida will have to change his gameplan up if he wants to survive the rematch
