I believe that this was a very hard fight for Lyoto, but just how i read before somewhere else… leg kicks are the path for later ending the fight once the enemy cant fight as fast, the problem is that shogun cuoldnt finish the fight, and just as i read, i thought the same… they mention that clean punches are the one that count the most, and in that department lyotoi won, he chose carefully his shots and landed the most, that counts.. and another thing that counts is ring control.. you dont necesary have to go forward in order to complete your fight plan.. he was taking thge fight where he wanted.. and if to do that you have to make your enemy follow you while you go backwards then so be it

I see how they chose lyoto as a winner and I agree as well :)

besides.. you can’t avoid leg kicks! i mean shogun didnt land more than 60% of his kicks. so it means lyoto effectively avoided them most of the kicks.. but come on.. you cant scape from EVERYTHING! and if doing so, you lose most of your speed coz leg kicks are so hard, then so be it, but you dont give up, nor lose the posture so that he cant TAKE YOU DOWN, Knock you down or out, or land so many OTHER punches and END THE FIGHT, lyoto avoided everything else! that was his job, not let shogun finish the fight and meanwhile keep scoring and probably ending the fight ( shogun was also good enough to do not let lyoto knock him out ) but not to stop lyotos effective punches, which lyoto did better ç( and its what counts the most )
i remember hearing my grandfather onces telling me about this boxer ( which i cant remember his name ) who was famous for always punching the guard of the other fighter and his punches were so hard that after 4 or 5 rounds the fighter couldnt hold his arms up anymore and then he would finish the fights. well thats exactly what shogun couldnt do, finish the fight when he lyoto couldnt move as fast, and in teh progress he ate more punches from lyoto

I think there is an posibility that the outcome off this fight is maby fixt, not by the ufc but maby by the gambeling industrie. there was a lot off money bet on this fight and it was like dana sad a 6 to 1 or something. that means the bookies would lose a lot of money if shogun won the fight. And I think alot of people bet on shogun because of the rates and shogun is the Ex Pride champion it would be a great bed. What do you guys think about this Theory

excuse me for my english writing.

Jacob

jacob i think you are 100% correct on that theory. its just unfortunate that the ufc has become a puppet to the evils of gambling

7

gamblers rule so many sports u dont even know….by money, by power, by friendships, by contacts or by force (gun)

I think lyoto won the fight. shogun had the more devastating hits, but machida scored more points. I love machida and everything but i hate when fighters use this as a strategy (GSP). Everytime there was a flurry in the ring, machida would definately have the upper hand. So in the rematch, if he can take more risks, Machida can no doubt win in a more exciting fashion. I don’t think this has to do with gambling. Everyone should stop arguing about this fight because its not going to overturn any decisions. We have to leave it up to the rematch. On another note, Machida said in an interview, if he can defend his title 5 times, he would consider jumping a weight class to perhaps take on B rock Lesnar. So lets all just root for Machida if anything, to see that happen!!! EPIC!

lyoto won… HE WON BY CLEAN PUNCHES…. yes he received kicks but man those were after shogun received the punches……

he won 1-2-3 thats clear.. so there should be no questions even if shogun won 4-5.. do the math,,,,…. i was betting for shogun but i lost… hahaha… i lost 50 pounds..

I had my comments yesterday but somehow they were deleted..
Again,

After watching the fight 3 times and with no volume, I got:
1 round, 10-9 machida
2 round, 10-9 machida
3 round, 10-9 machida
4 round, 10-9 rua
5 round, 10-9 rua
Final points: 48-47 Machida WON!!

Shogun did nothing to beat Machida, no takedowns, many kicks and most of them were skipped and not landed
Machida scored more points because he was more accurate
If you wanna be the champ, then beat the champ!
Hope there’s a rematch soon!!

Shogun won.. Try to do this sport yourself and you will see how great that fight was but Shogun won… The only way you can say Machida won is because you are suppost to win a champ by a large margin.. props to both fighters…

12

Shogun won the fight but you got to beat the champ better than that to take a belt… Props to both fighters.. split dis… maybe but shogun won..

13

Machida got a clean score punches which should be scored.of course lyoto wins the match, I just wonder how rogan and white acted the way rua should have won…To clear all matters, Machida then accept a rematch.

14

Watch this fight without volume. Naturally you would think that shogun won because of the drama from joe rogan and him being biast every time he landed a leg kick it was like wow shogun is my hero then machida answered with 2-3 punches. So watch it without volume and watch the movement and accuracy of machida.

You can’t be a champ by landing leg kicks. You have to win and win by a long shot. Leg kicks are not something the judges are too fond of, after giving a light heavyweight belt away once to forrest griffin for leg kicks, compare the forrest griffin rampage fight to this one. forrest won because his kicks were so hard and really almost KOed rampage. Shogun’s leg kicks were not so punishing, yeah they left welts on machida’s legs but did not devastate him like forrest did to rampage. So what im saying is if you are going to throw leg kicks to win the UFC light heavyweight championship… they better break your opponents leg.

I don’t agree with people that say that you have to beat the champ with a long shot. If you won you won! I think you can be the champ by just landing low kicks. If you are the champ like machida you should answer those kicks and also score your points. If you win by an inch ore a mile it shouldn’t mather. Same with any other sport. You can win with football with one point than you still won the match that’s what it is. And I also have to say that I felt that shogun controled the fight. He was the agressor. That’s why I think he should’ve won. I’m looking forward to the rematch and acspect more from machida he is still an amaizing fighter that is hard to handle.
