After last week’s negotiations with the UFC failed due to co-promoting demands, Fedor Emelianenko has instead signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC’s biggest competitor, Strikeforce.

The organization today announced it has signed Emelianenko (30-1) to a multi-fight deal that will have him fight under the Strikeforce banner in events co-headlined M-1 Global. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

No specific date has been determined for his first Strikeforce fight, but Emelianenko will make his promotional debut this fall on Showtime, according to today’s announcement.

Update from Sherdog: “Fedor is a f—ing joke,” UFC President Dana White responded Monday after learning that Emelianenko had signed with Strikeforce. “He turns down a huge deal and the opportunity to face the best in the world to fight nobodies for no money!”

I feel good that Fedor will be fighting fairly soon in the Fall. Glad it is with a legitimate organization like Strikeforce. Although Brett Rogers will be certainly at the top of the opponents Fedor will be fighting, I would definitely want to see Alistair Overeem defend the HW belt against Fedor.

shame on fedor !!!!

2

shame on someone who disposes others as nobodies. Also the definition “face the best in the world ” is a question of view. Now Fighters will face the best (Fedor) in Strikeforce. Maybe some UFC Fighters should also join this great Event. Also rich and powerful people should act respectfull. This is a FREE WORLD not just US arrogance counts.

im confused why fedor wouldnt sign for the ufc. sure fedor is considered the best heavy weight in the world but to actually be the best you have to fight and beat the best guys in the division like gsp, penn, machida, silva and lesner do. sure he beat arlovski and sylvia but they aren’t at their best anymore and both have been knocked out again in their last fights. Even Tito is back in the ufc and him and dana hated each other and the only reason is because he knows that the ufc is where the best fighters are and the toughest challenges. I think dana was disrespectful but do agree with the sentiment

First off Fedor isn’t a F*#king joke. That said, I think Dana is right. He may have a couple of good fights in strikeforce, but I don’t understand why M-1 is not willing to budge on the co-promotion. As Dana as said, why would it make sense for the UFC to co-promote with M-1? They promote just fine on their own; there’s very little M-1 can bring to the table for them.

I guess Fedor really just doesn’t care about money or legitimizing his status as #1 heavyweight and possibly p4p. Even if he doesn’t care about those things, I wish he cared about what the fans want to see. I think it’s safe to say there are a TON of people who would love to see him fight some of the UFCs HWs. And not just Lesnar.

Fedor is assuredly a joke with a padded record.

I am a huge Fedor fan, but i am pissed off. Dana offered more money then he ever made, he gave him the right to fight in sambo, he allowed him ware M-1 gear in the ufc ring, he gave him a chance to show his fans that he can beat the UFC’s best.
But Fedors manager would only agree if the UFC would go 50-50 on promotion. UFC would have to share promotions with all their fighters and in return they get Fedor.
Bullshit i know UFC had shitty deals before but this is a good deal
Its not Fedors managers fault either, Its Fedors for not saying Get Me a Deal
His manager wants a deal the is impartial to both sides.
By both sides he should mean UFC and Fedor, not UFC and Fedors manager, who runs a major part of M-1.
Fedors has almost lost me as a fan because of this bullshit, now i can only look forward to him whooping Brett Rogers and taking his undefeated record away. Way to fuck everything up.

Dana would love to have control over every top fighter in the world and have them all fight for him. He wants a UFC ‘monopoly’. I’m glad Fedor didn’t sign. Whoever is game enough to face him can come to another org like Strikeforce. (Just like Sylvia and Arlovski did in Affliction). Fedor, the fighter that’s worked hard to be #1, deserves to call the shots – not an org president that wants UFC to be only big event.

however it might be, fedor couldn’t sign with th ufc. not because he is scared, but because of the fights still left on his m1 contract. if he would have signed with the ufc without copromotion,he would be in violation with his m1 contract. this being said, i expect him to go ufc after strikeforce and m1. let’s not forget that he also holds the wamma belt. just imagin fedor with the ufc, without copromotion. if he were to win the ufc belt, that would mean that a ufc contender would always fight for 2 belts, and if someone would want the wamma belt, they would have to sign with the ufc, since they don’t copromote….or fedor could give up the wamma belt, but he doesn’t seem that kind of guy. and another thing… the whole world doesn’t revolve around the ufc, and ppv counts aren’t everything, here in my country we don’t have ppv, ufc is free here. popularity doesn’t equal ppv score, as some would say. goddamn, typing wth ps3 contoller is tedious stuff…

@ tim, arlovski and sylvia are ufc rejects they didnt leave to fight him they got beat in the ufc before they left and are washed up now. sylvia 1-4 in his last 5 and arlovski 0-2 in last two. hardly the best competition out there, and whos he gonna face at strikeforce their champ Alistair Overeem? who got ko’d twice by rua (LHW) and beat by Nogueira also LHW.

50% of the promotion for 1 fighter when there are 21 other athletes fighting? now that is bulls~*t

10

Mr Tim, again. I thought I was a huge Fedor fan, but you take the cake. Randy Couture Left the UFC just so that he could fight Fedor, and Fedor’s management pussied out. Randy Couture is a “Real” Champion, and he only fights the best. Fedor has proven that he’s a paper champion, and he doesn’t give a fuck about his fans. Period, point, blank. Fuck him.

It sucks it didn’t happen, but to say that Fedor’s trying to duck fighting Lesnar is absurd. I mean, you’re talking about a 30-1 fighter vs. a 4-1 fighter. Fedor isn’t Frank Mir, people (And Mir beat Lesnar once)! Sure, records aren’t everything, but experience is, and Brock just doesn’t have enough to beat Fedor. I’m not going to rule out the possibility of that monster beating Fedor entirely, but logic tells us that he’s just not ready for that kind of heat yet. Yes, Brock’s a bad ass mofo, but Fedor’s like a machine. He wouldn’t be easy to take down for Brock, like Mir was. And Brock sure as hell wouldn’t stand with him (that would be a death wish), but even in a ground game Brock only has one advantage, and that’s size. Sure, that’s a big advantage (no pun intended) but submissions, ground defense, and ground offense (especially guard attack) certainly go to Fedor. And that’s 3 out of 4 aspects!

obviosly fedor didnt sign for a reason. dana offered him way more money then strikeforce ever could. this is just so wierd to me. i know fedor is not a pussy but the best in the world are in the ufc all the people we would want to see fedor are in the ufc the most money was in the ufc why didnt he go to the ufc? its wierd to me and frustrating. hes not getting any younger and the whole world wants to see him in the ufc. i love that guy but it really makes me mad that he made such a stupid ass decision
