amazing fight.. great conditioning shown by both fighters and hats off to henderson for getting out of those submissions but honestly how do all 3 judges give 3 out of 5 rounds to him ??? Rounds 1,2, and 5 were Cerrone, he looked to be landing the more damaging of the strikes and showed awesome takedown defense and seemed the fresher fighter in the later rounds i.m.o great fight either way but no way was that a “unanimous decision” judges cracked… which is why u have to finish fights

Great Fight!! Never leave it in the judges hands!! BUT I believe Cerone won this won..Cerone will be back very soon and would love to see him kick Varner’s Butt. Don’t care for that dude!!!!

that was a bullshit decision. henderson did an amazing job, showing superhuman durability, but he was getting knocked around for the last two rounds and he didn’t do any damage whatsoever. cerrone was the only one being offensive while henderson was largely laying on his back. rounds 1,4,5 to cerrone for certain. he was the more threatening fighter and did more damage. all henderson could do was ground and pound, once his takedowns stopped working he had nothing else to do. cerrone won the fight, no question in my mind. he should be the champ, although it really doesn’t matter because he’s already the best 155 fighter in the wec. if only he could sprawl!

Thanks, I’ll keep my eyes out for it’s return…

quality fight, i think another round would have shown whose conditioning was going to succeed. a decision had to be made and the right man won as he won all the early rounds. but all heart to cerrone, that mental strength will see him come back.

Great fight, but I don’t understand how there can be controversy about this fight, Henderson took the first 3 in my opinion… But seriously, does he really think that God gives a shit that we won his WEC interm title? Whats with these people saying “Christ was with me in the fight!” If he exists, I’m pretty sure he’s got more important stuff to do than make sure Henderson won this fight…

WOW!!!! Amazing fight and contender for FOTY. Ben is hella insane with those submission evasion he busted out of. Dan and Ben Henderson, two of the baddest gents in MMA.

how did henderson win the first round when he spent the whole round pulling his head out of chokeholds ?
idiots
October 14th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Well, he spent half of that round raining down punches, doing far more damage to Cerrone than the sub attempts could account for, you tool. And the judges obviously agree…
October 14th, 2009 at 11:10 am
Well it seems everyone agrees rds 2 and 3 Henderson won with Cerrone taking 4 and 5 So lets break down the 1st for all the skeptics out there that just can’t seem to get over the fact that those TWO submissions didn’t work.
Henderson:
Has Cerrone agianst the fence TWICE pushing the action
1 Takedown attempt
2 Submission escapes
1 knee and 1 head kick
1 Takedown with dominate postion for 2 minutes
Throwing around 50 strikes Landing the majority.
1 Leg kick and a few punches while standing
Cerrone:
1 head kick missed
2 submission attempts lasting 1min 40 sec.
0 strikes rom the bottom during SUBMISSION attempts
A few up kicks that didn’t land
A few standing punches and a leg kick
Note: I realize not all strikes landed or were damaging for EITHER fighter.
Just on time alone Henderson controlled the majority of the rd. Now add in the strikes.
Henderson wins the RD…….
All the sub. attempts did was give Cerrone control for that 1 min and 40 sec. THATS IT!!!!! Just cause Frank Mir gets excited about sub. attempts and says someones in trouble doesn’t make it true….
