I’m huge Shogun fan from Pride too butt, I’d like to see him fight someone not in their late 3os or 40s where he can prove his cardio not an issue. Chuck was taking it to him in the first few minutes before he got clipped. Shogun rematch with Forrest for me is best. What about Spider go up to fight Shogun ? The possibilities…

Doubt he will fight Forrest soon cz Forrest is set to fight Thiago Silva at ufc 101.
I think he should face Luis Cane or some other young up and comer.
But if he keeps as fit as he looked I seriously think the only person he couldn’t beat would be Lyoto (love both fighters, but Lyoto’s tactics are simply outstanding).

well said superdave. Chuck was one of the best. Shogun was a bad man too; however new talent and skillset come and go every year. I think shogun is a long ways from where he used to be and jackson would win hands down. Shogun should celebrate his victory over lidell because the 205ers are no joke and shogun will have trouble in that division.

I’m a lidell fan and I would say you are partially right…age was not a factor….the problem is his mind set! if you watch this fight compared to others, lidell didn’t commit to his punches like in other fights. In the past, when committing to his punches, lidell’s hips would snap and he would thrust forward, usually knocking somebody the fuck out or doing some damage, this fight all his punches were light and he never committed to his punches. He had 2 opportunities where shogun was getting hit, but not hit as hard as what lidell usually hits and shogun was not damaged…..chuck was to worried about getting knocked out again. Plain and simple.

I thought Shogun looked ok, but not great. I think Rashad and shogun would be a good fight to watch only because they both have the same type of fighting styles and body movement. personally i think forrest should never had lost to rashad, and with that I think shogun may be in good shape but has some stiff competition to be dealing with! Rampage has great knock out power, forest has great skill set, and jardine well jardine is tough bastard and finally rashad. 205 lb class has the most talent in my opinion, or is atleast the most fun to watch!

I don’t fully agree with Bolo although shogun has more skill, chuck had way more knock out power. Unlike in pride….Rampage would eat shogun up right now. Now having said that both shogun and lidell are damn near legend status in MMA. Past is the past. I look forward to the buzz on here after the next shogun fight. i think any of the fighters Bolo mentioned would be a great challenge for shogun and should be fun to watch!!

Nice, good too see chuck retire. Ever since tito and the rest of the shit fighters got their ass kicked out of the lightw. division, chuck was the last one to go. He was a fighter of a former era. People talk about him being out of his prime, but really the level of mma today has stepped up several notches. Besides, shogun is 11 years younger and has much more technical skills, he was the fighter for the future, not chuck.

Isak…..I agree with the statement that Shogun is more of a well rounded fighter and yes the talent level has gone up dramatically; however Shogun nor is any other fighter, a fighter for the future. Each and every fighter has strengths and weaknesses and some have better skills than others. Take Brock lesner for example…he is a fucking retard, yet holds the belt right now. Chuck was a great fighter just like Gracie and Shamrock. Trust me, it won’t be long and you’ll be reading on here that Shogun needs to retire because he can’t compete anymore. That is if he is able to do work like he did in Pride………..

Chuck was simply outclassed by a better fighter who has always been better. This was a dream match that should have happened long ago and I think the outcome would have been the same had it taken place years ago. It’s simply hard for Chuck fans to swallow the fact that Shogun is a better fighter and that Chuck can no longer hang with the top 205ers.

Fuck all of chuck liddell’s last 5 fights he is one of the original mma fighters, and was the best 205 pd. champ of any cage fighting sport.
