Kongo must have needed a paycheck pretty bad so he could leave his head at home to watch the Franklin/Silva match on PPV. This only demonstrates that Velasquez can handle 3 full rounds of constant ground and pound. His chin is questionable though, the few good hits Kongo threw at him, for those couple moments, brought on a star or two.
Let’s hope that we can see him fight someone that decides to show up for the next match.

Cain did the right thing by going ground and pound. Kongo needs to work on his ground and pound before his melon look like that again!

I seriously think Kongo is stupid.

Cain needs a lot of work, his stand up needs improvement but he has all the potential. The guy is an absolute beast, hardly any experience and still has amazing physical ability. They need to build him up slowly, but I think Dana will throw him at much more experienced, bigger, well known fighters since the HW division is lacking in good fighters.

lol that was dispointing

please can everyone see that Kongo got paid to lose the fight. Its to funny. watch it over and tell me Kongo didn’t try.

At 0:50 (-4:10 on the timer) Cain clearly did hit back of Kongo’s head several times… no warning, no stoppage… which reminds me of the first fight Mir vs. Lesnar

At 0:50 (-4:10 on the timer) Cain clearly did hit back of Kongo’s head several times, and many many many more times during the fight… no warning, no stoppage… which reminds me of the first fight Mir vs. Lesnar
to be clear: no doubt Cain was dominating this fight, well deserved victory

Kongo needs to work on his ground game and cain needs to work on his stand up either way they both need work and if they where to fight in a match with someone like brock or mir they would both lose with the showing the had in this fight… if cain fights a BJJ fighter he would have a hard time

Cain could of easily submitted Kongo multiple times.

This is Cain’s 6th MMA fight and the 24th for Kongo. It definitely showed much promise for Cain since he dominated most of the match. Also, showed how strong his chin and his great recovery as well.

Cheick, is one of the best MMA fighters to watch, and his punches can bring down a bull!, but not if it’s a
Mexicain bull.
The power to kill the spirit of a Mexican man comes from within, and tonight at UFC 99 Kongo and the rest of the
MMA world experienced the heart and “brown pride” of a true
Mexicain!
Congrats to Cain on being a father to baby girl Coral BTW.
Cain has the ground skills of a master.
Cain won ground control, takedowns, and number of punches including passing the guard,
what a great fight!
Kongo hit Cain with everything he could and he still beat him down, hats off to both Cain and Kongo for taking some
of the
“greatest HW punches in a match on UFC.”

Michael Vasquez

I agree with “wow”. Before the fight I thought Vasquez had his hands full. I really thought Kongo was going to pummel Cain in the 1st round. Shame on me. Vasquez came in with the right plan, executed it, and changed my mind about both fighters. They’ve got some work to do. Vasquez may have a great ground game and good takedowns, but if he faces Mir, he’s out of his league (for now).
Good for Cain, too bad for Kongo. He probably shouldn’t have taken that fight on such short notice. Easy to say in retrospect.
I think a CroCop v Kongo rematch is in the near future.

Kongo ALWAYS disappoints, after everyone one of his bouts I’m left with the impression he’s a complete moron.
July 13th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
What a complete moron who wrote Congo got paid to lose. One of the most stupid remarks ever on this site. Did you see those first two punches Congo hit him with? A LOT of people would have been knocked out right there and that being the case, the fight would have been over STUPID!!

What the hell does brown and proud mean? Is that suppose to be a racist comment of a Mexican beaten on a African American. If Cain ever fights Brock would it sound right for me to say Wight and Proud, because we all know Cain would get spanked by the Vanilla Gorilla.
July 19th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
lol hahaha vanilla gorilla

Velasquez owned Kongo! Wouldn’t stand a chance against Lesnar though WAY too small of a HW. Oh and to the Mexican brother spouting all the “brown pride” B.S. REALITY CHECK! Velasquez is baige man.

Kongo is a beast….. or could be one.
Its suprising he lose’s fights like that.
I give it to the other guy for showing hardcore heart and nice ground and pound.
but good fight indeed.
nice try kongo.
