Anthony Johnson, fresh off a knockout win over Yoshiyuki Yoshida less than a month ago, is ready for the sternest test of his young career when he takes on top contender Josh Koscheck at UFC 106 Saturday night in Las Vegas. Speaking with Sherdog.com at Thursday’s press conference, Johnson addressed his step up in competition, his quick turnaround and his confidence in his skills. The highly-rated prospect had trouble making weight for his October match — coming in six-and-a-half pounds over — but said he is ready to put any speculation about his ability to fight in the welterweight division to rest this weekend.

Anthony Johnson probably has the best chance of beating the Champ. Johnson may have been relatively unknown at first, but I think everyone knows who he is now. Johnson should be able to beat any other welterweight on any given night.
I’ve just seen too much of him to think otherwise. He is an exceptional fighter, who’s kicks are as good as his strikes are. Although Josh Koshcheck is an exciting fighter in his own rights, he does not match up well against Johnson. Johnson is taller and just as aggressive. If he doesn’t open eyes yet, he will. Be patient, because Johnson will be fighting for the title very soon.
Not only can he KO an opponent by using his foot (head kick), but he can take hits. Koshcheck has been KO’d in the past, so he knows what’s coming. Rest assured Johnson’s high head kicks will be active that night.
