who the f won the fight?
July 6th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
that was a draw, do it again
July 6th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Rematch. Too close to call.
July 6th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
shut the hell up…even rampage knew he lost…give credit were credit is due because forrest won this fight.
July 7th, 2008 at 1:21 am
This was SO not a draw…..Jackson had to defend the title, meaning he should be the one making sure he stays dominant….and he wasn’t.
Griffin is not perhaps better striker, but can sure as hell punch you just as hard, when he is on target, but also can take a few himself. Which is why is is probably the hardest fighter Jackson has ever faced.
Griffin deserves the title, because he made Jackson work hard and he didn’t succeed at it.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:29 am
NS Fighting - It is not a champion’s job to defend the title, it is the challenger’s job to take it and earn it. Forrest didn’t do that in this fight. It was a close one but Forrest has got to prove that he deserves to be the champ.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:26 am
Jackson clearly won the 1st round and Forrest dominated the second round. 3rd round nobody did anything. Jackson pulled off the 4th round and Forrest pulled off the 5th round. I believe the match was a draw if you saw it the way I did. Even if you give the fight to Forrest the score card should have been a lot closer.
July 7th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
who won the f’n fight? I don’t think forrest did enough to take the title away from jackson; don’t getme wrong but jackson has the title and if thats the best that forrest can give then jackson should have alot more defenses to go through. andyr peace
July 7th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
That fight was way to close to call I think rampage had rd 1 griffin rd 2 and rd 3,4,5 could have gone to anybody.Grffin did land more leg kicks tghan rampage landed punches but a fight that close should have gone to the champ.A dont think rampage should get a auto rematch tho I would like to see rapmage-shogun 2 then if page wins he gets a tittle shot.
July 7th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
Forrest for sure won that fight… those leg kicks tore into his leg and Rampage was hurt so bad he was limping … The whole entire fight Griffin controlled and only good part that Rampage had was when he knocked down Forrest, but he recovered I had the fight even until the last fight which Forrest won
July 7th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
If you look at the fight from adamage standpoint I think Rampage did way more damage with those huge power shots. although I must say if I had to judge the fight it was a draw.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
The fight was really close. Who ever said griffin can much as hard as rampage doesnt know anything but griffon has one hell of a leg kick. The reason forrest won is he was just a little bit more agressive and that put just on top. There is definately going to be a rematch if forrest can hold on to his title long enough for jackson to get a couple more fights (No im not saying forrest insnt good but the division is really stacked and anybody could rise to the occasion– lyoto machida–)
July 7th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Lyoto Machida is going to take out Forrest for sure…and you are right about the reason why Forrest won … that reason is because he had more octagon control…Take downs, knockdowns, and octagon control…Rampage even said he got hurt and got his butt kicked by Forrest so give the monkey man some credit…
July 7th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
take downs , knockdowns, octagon control, and aggressiveness is how it is scored damage is secondary…
July 7th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
i dont believe that forrest deserves the belt, no disrespect intended. i believe that you have to BEAT the champ and it should be forrest trying for a rematch. peace andyr
July 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
It was a close fight for sure, but I think that Forrest got him. We all want a champion get TKO’d (or submitted), but this just doesn’t always happen, and genuine knock outs don’t even happen that much in pro boxing. Some of you bloggers made it sound like a freaking court trial, as if Forrest needed a document to prove his case. Hey, this is fighting, not lawyering. And until one understands how the MMA scoring system works, one can’t question a fight this close. And remember, unlike boxing, there’s not much (if any) corruption in this very new sport, at least not yet.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:20 am
This was my scorecard:
round: 1 2 3 4 5 Total
Rampage: 10 8 9 10 9 46
Griffin: 9 10 10 9 10 48
-Which was what 2 judges out of 3 gave. I dunno about the third judge giving 49 to 46.. he musta thought there was a draw round maybe around the 4th. The point is, it was unanimous.
Forrest was a much smarter fighter and he took complete control of the fight. Rampage on the other hand, didn’t seem to have much of a game plan but to go for the one punch knockout that he’s so accustomed to getting.
Well done Forrest, even Rampage admitted to getting his ass whooped!
July 8th, 2008 at 9:07 am
TRUTH IS FORRST SCORED MORE POINTS BUT RAMPAGE GAVE MORE DAMAGE.FORREST DIDNT FIGHT LIKE A CHAMPION.WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW LONG HE CAN DEFEND HIS BELT AGAINST OTHTER 205.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
hutch is right.. lets give forrest a shot. see if he can defend. peace andyr
July 10th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
i know how forrest can dominate jackson next fight ,throw a barrage of punches and jackson will back up and be against the cage where forrest can clinch him , judging by the clinch in the first round when jackson is backed up against the cage clinched he poses no threat , from there forrest should be able to get the take down and dominate him on top the rest of the fight , ya rampage can slam , but all the fighters he did it again were tired and quite a bit smaller than griffin and easier to pick up , did you see jackson could barely pick him up in that triangle
July 10th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
ya forrest is stronger look in the first round when rampage had him pressed into the cage , within a second forrest was able to overpower rampage easily and muscle the position so he had rampage against the cage
July 10th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
This is bullshit.
Rampage got fuckign robbed
July 12th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Rampage won that fight, you have to beat a champion by Total Domination, KO or Submission to take his belt. They gave it to Forrest so Chuck would have a shot at being the champ again. It’s BS and Dana Whites behind it.
July 13th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Rampage did not lose that fight. How the fuck did two of the three judges give the first round to Forrest? They were just looking out for their Las Vegas boy. This is exactly what the UFC wanted because it validates the Ultimate Fighter. Rampage kills him in the rematch.
July 13th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
This fight was pure politics at its best. A sad excuse for a win. I lost all respect toward the UFC and its judging. This fight’s ending decision was a complete disgrace to the UFC and its affiliates. You have to BEAT the champ to BE the champ (not kick someone’s knee like a lil bitch and score “points” with take downs)…nuff said
July 13th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
rampage may hit harder than forrest does, but if u watch the fight, the only punch where you could SEE the damage was the uppercut that knocked him down in the first round, which jackson won. the judges dont know how much it hurts forrest when he gets it if he doesnt show any pain. he took the punches that rampage threw at him and came back with his own. he dominated the majority of the fight in 4 out of 5 areas, that leads to victory. the second round was definitely a 10-8 round, rampage didnt do anything but nearly fall over from the leg kick, then lay on his back. 3rd round was close, coulda went either way. again in the 4th and 5th rounds, forrest dominated 4 out of the 5 areas the judges score, and you cant argue that he was more aggressive, took the center of the octagon (octagon control) more takedowns (effective grappling), and threw more punches more accurately than rampage (effective striking). the damage is sorta based on how the judges want to see it.
enough about how forrest needed to TAKE the title from rampage, HE DID!!! you all are saying that it was too close of a fight to call, NO IT WASNT! maybe from your point of view because you all want to see knockouts and submissions, but look at the fight from a judge’s point of view, and youll realize (if you know anything about the sport) that griffin dominated 3 rounds, losing one for sure, and 1 round (3rd) couldve gone either way. rampage admitted that he got his ass whooped, plain and simple. ud think that if anyone thought he got ripped off, itd be him, BUT HE DIDNT! give it a rest, forrest won and just look forward to his first title defense.

I have read a lot of the posts and it seems the basic argument comes down to this: Judges score fights differently than fans. Fans want DAMAGE. I understand that takedowns and control and keeping busy score points, but is that what makes a GREAT fight for fans? Only if that stuff does any damage. At least that’s what I pay to see.

Why is everyone bitchin about the outcome? If jackson can admit defeat — not to mention how badly F’s kicks hurt him, then why is it so hard to accept the outcome. I’ll admit, it should be harder to dethrone a champ w/ a simple one point victory. It should be a convincing and overwhelming defeat that earns a title. What people don’t understand is that this fight was PRECISELY THAT. IF YOU HAVE EVER FOUGHT, YOU WILL AGREE W/ ME. A punch to the head sucks — but if it does not knock you out, the pain fades and you get over it quickly (it may hurt like hell later that night) and you can continue fighting just fine. THOSE LEG KICKS HOWEVER — ARE VICIOUS PRICKS IN DISGUISE!!!! They won’t make the highlight reels or be the choice script ending for a Hollywood fight movie — BUT THOSE FUCKERS HURT!! THEY WILL DISABLE YOU!! THEY WILL CHANGE THE COURSE OF THE ENTIRE FIGHT!! THE PAIN FADES QUICKLY BUT THEN YOU ARE NUMB. NUMBNESS IN A LEG MUSCLE MEANS NO MUSCLE CONTROL. YOU ARE IN A MANNER OF SPEAKING, PARALYZED (TO A DEGREE)S AND SO THEY DID !!! IT IS NOT THE MOST MEMORABLE COMMENT BUT PERHAPS NONE MORE TRUE: GETTING KICKED LIKE THAT IS LIKE AN 80MPH SWING W/A BASEBALL BAT. LIKE A CAR THAT CAN’T SHIFT OUT OF THE LOWER GEARS — IT RESULTS IN LOSING CONTROL OF YOUR MOVEMENTS — CONTROL FORREST WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN AND HENCE THE TERM: OCTAGON CONTROL. IT BELONGED TO FORREST GRIFFIN, WHO WON THE FIGHT — DECISIVELY.
FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT GRASP THIS CONCEPT, THE ROCKY SERIES IS NOW AVAILABLE IN A BOX SET AT COSTCO. THERE YOU WILL FIND THE DRAMA AND KNOCKOUTS YOU SO DESIRE AND WATCH UNDERDOG ROCKY BALBOA RISE FROM OBSCURITY TO FAME.

Look…you win some and you lose some! Its just a part of the game. Both fighters did their best and gave it their all!! That’s all that matters.
What I love about both of these fighters was their mutual honesty and respect for each other. That was class at its best and it is something that is needed in this sport! When so many are full of pride and arrogance it was refreshing to see their admiration! Any time Forrest Griffin and Rampage Jackson fight I will definelty watch but I can’t say the same for some of these egotist we see. MMA is a great sport but it is affecting the generations in an etrnal way. One day ultimate fighting will stand in ultimate judgeement and their will be lost of winners and a whole lot of loser.

griffin lost this fight. rampage dominated him in round 1 3 and 4. griffin surely won round 2, and won round 5. i don’t know what fight most of you were watching, but jackson won this one.
