Lesnar dominated in the early match and lost to negligence. I would like to see him taking on Mir once again, finishing the full match. Lesnar will no doubt be a rising star in MMA.

He Got Too Cocky. He Made a mistake when he stood up and Mir did a good move. Someone forgot to tell him and Mir isn’t following a script.

this was a very good match. Lesner is a beast. He lost because he got cocky.

If i could tell Lesner one thing it would be this. HEY ITS NOT SCRIPTED ANYMORE!

Brock Lesnar is “the next big thing”… “for me to poop on” he needed to fight a less experienced fighter on his debut.now his ufc record is tainted with a loss he might as well go to tna or wwe before his name and reputation get tarnished by more losses and his career come to an end like Ken Shamrock’s did. what a joke!!! he had the guy he should have just sacrificed his ankle and try to fight some more but he pussied out like a bitch!!! I hope he learned not to talk so much shit before the fight!!!that overhyped albino gorilla should go back to pro wrestling maybe he can give back to the sport that gave him a name instead of shitting on it every chance he gets!!! I bet stone cold Steve Austin had a good time watching that because finally someone teaches brock to respect a sport before he goes into it.

I think Brock has been given too much credit for this fight, sure he looked like a very strong striker but he wasnt overly accurate with it. I dont think he could have won that fight given another 3 attempts.

Mir is the more experienced and able fighter with no exception

    13. mike Says:
      February 24th, 2008 at 1:28 pm

10seconds = Mir is in trouble

Mir moves his head so that the strikes are hitting him CLOSE to the back of the head, he is keeping the back of his head to Brock’s strikes (a tactic UFC fighters use often when they are overwhelmed)

16 seconds = official saves Mir (this is entertainment after all and cant have the match end in 20 seconds)

Mir is down again, Brock is a little confused because he is fighting the ref and mir = stand and leg lock.

UFC is turning into “win by rules’ buy allowing this type of rule abuse UFC is no better than a olimpic boxing match.

To all the Lesnar haters out there are you serious. Watch Frank Mir’s expression after the fight. That is what i call i just won the lottery face. No reason at all Lesnar should have been pulled the hammer fist to the back of the head was complete accident. Truth be told if ref wouldnt have pulled lesnar off mir that fight would have been over in another 5 to 10 seconds. Get real wrestling is scripted but in no way does that take away from any of Lesnars skills the guy hasnt wrestled in what 5 to 7 years. Get over it I guarantee Lesnar will be a champion in ufc

bleh, for one he took it too him and if it wasn’t for that idiotic call Brook might have one. Brock needs to work on his conditioning and his tech. Brock would have defiantly lost by the second round, his breathing is all fucked.

    18. wake the fuck up Says:
      February 29th, 2008 at 6:42 am

How are you going to say he was going to gas? The guy was a real stud in real wrestling..just happens WWE was his profession. If you know anything about wrestlers they have tremendous endurance/work ethic. Brock looked pretty damn good other than the tendency to leave shit open for submissions…some more experience is all he needs.

    19. BiggC Says:
      February 29th, 2008 at 8:08 am

Dood Lesnar was pounding away on that biatch..LOL! Yeah I think Lesnar would have won that no doubt he just didn’t see that leg lock coming to him.

    20. Doc Holliday Says:
      February 29th, 2008 at 8:15 am

Lesnar dominated early match, we know that. The match only lasted 1:30. So the whole thing was “early.”

Lesnar got Mir to the ground = Ground and Pound

Mir took too many hits = Move back of head towards attacks

Referee uses “time out” = Mir rests for a minute

Lesnar gets Mir to the ground again = Mir in trouble

Lesnar stands = Vulnerable to Jujitsu.

Now lets understand, that Lesnar stood up, not because he was getting cocky, but because he didn’t know what else to do.

Lesnar is a newbie, and so far his tactics are Ground & Pound. Nothing else.

He needs a little more experience. If he were to research Mir a little more, he would have been able to finish him off no problem.

      Thoughts:
Work on your ground submissions. Reversing, evading, take-downs.

    21. Doc Holliday Says:
      February 29th, 2008 at 8:21 am

Also, to everyone who thought that was an ankle lock, you’re mistaken.

That was a knee lock. Any more pressure and the knee could have popped the opposite direction of what it’s supposed to; preventing him from walking the same (or performing in the UFC) ever again.

Go ahead and get yourself in one of those, and not tap out. You might not be a pussy, but you’ll be fucked up the rest of your life.

    24. tbone09 Says:

Lesner needs about 2 to 3 more years of training and a good submission guy to work him to a mesh. Mir is a guy who is on his way out. To call this a success for him is bogus. I don’t see either of them beating a guy call Kimbo Slice. Now when Dana White can get him into the Heavywieght mix then I’ll pay attention. But to me this fight was a publicity stunt for the ratings more so than for the fans.

    25. Vik Vega Says:
      March 3rd, 2008 at 7:42 pm

You are idiots, Brock fights like a goon. He bullied Mir to the ground Mir stayed calm, Brock made a mistake and hit Mir in the back of the head (Great move by Mir) and the ref DID HIS JOB! Next Brock took him down and Mir again remained calm and looked for a submission…and AGAIN Lesnar made a stupid mistake….Mir would win again, and again, and again…And Brock isn’t EVER going to be a champ or even a contender, He is decent but WAY to old to start now….Vince McMahon and the WWE laugh, Ziggy Wolfe and The Minnesota Vikings laugh, and now Dana White and the UFClaugh. Maybe he can beat a light heavywieght…nah…Give it up chump

    26. Btrice Says:
      March 4th, 2008 at 9:55 am

Vik Vega is the only person who really saw the fight and doesnt just ride Brock Lesnar. He is just a big joke. Either way he would have got caught in a submission. The ref didnt give anyone the fight.

    27. Don Lee Says:
      March 6th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

Mir is the man. What he did is what the UFC is all about. One mistake can cost you the fight. Frank Mir looked good. He came in fit, the best he has looked since his return to the Octagon.
Watch out for Mir. He has been rejuvenated by this win and will be very tough to beat in the near future no matter who they put in front of him.
Brock will be OK. Everyone will run from him until he loses a bit of wind and power then submit him again. Mir commented about the elbows and I can see why. Can you imagine this monster being on top of you, trying to pound you through the floor?
Frank Mir is the man. It was only justice for this fight to turn out like it did. Newbie vs veteran. Veteran every time.
It looks as if Anderson Silva is going to mess up someone’s day. The someone who is bad enough to step in the cage with him. He finds a way to win, convincingly, every time.
But for now, Mir is the man. Way to go Frank.

    28. Nuke Glendale Says:
      March 10th, 2008 at 11:22 am

Brock lost, and was the underdog. Experience is something Mir possesses plenty of, and Brock has less than my 8-year-old nephew. But I do completely agree that the pussy fighters that are getting their asses kicked shouldn’t be allowed to simply “turtle shell” by turning their heads so you can’t punch them anymore. “Oh no! He punches hard and I can’t block, so I’ll turn my head and RECEIVE A 1-POINT ADVANTAGE!!!” That’s really fucking gay, and Mir would have lost if he didn’t rely on a rule abuse to survive. Gay gay gay! Brock’s next fight is against a real man, Coleman, who won’t pull that shit.

    29. Ismail Says:

first of all he fought one of the best champions, second the only reason the guy won was because of the time out. i mean WTF back of the head? if only he didnt go too fast he would have won. but youll def. see more of brock

    31. Don Lee Says:

Brock Lesnar will give the fans what they wanted in the first place, a beat down, when he fights Mark Coleman.
Coleman will not last more than one round with Lesnar. Coleman is tailored made for a smacking by Lesnar.
The hype surrounding the fight will be great. Two giants going at it.
Coleman put on many an exciting fight. But he will be overpowered by Brock’s strength. Brock is not goint to lose 2 in a row and I wouldn’t want to be in Coleman’s shoes. It should be great a highlights reel.
Lesnar will take him to the ground quickly and Coleman will not get up again until the fight is called.
Question. If Brock Lesnar is pounding your head in with his fist and elbows, would you turn your head and try not to get smashed? I would.
Rules are rules. They cost you when you don’t follow them. For instance, in UFC 82, Cheick Kongo would have been KO’d by Heath Herring easily if Heath could have kneed to the head. But it is not allowed in the UFC and Heath abided by the rules and still won the fight. Good fight too.
Heath is a force to be reckoned with. He would fair better than Coleman against Brock because of his ring savvy. Rules work both ways, they can help you win or help you lose.

    32. PK Says:
      March 11th, 2008 at 8:30 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, it was a KNEE lock not an ankle lock. I have done BJJ for 10yrs and it is not allowed for us to practice the knee lock. Why? Simply because it is so easy to blow the knee out and the recipient will never walk the same way again. Brock HAD to tap out. Let me re-phrase that. HE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO FUCKEN TAP OUT. Unless u think walking with a limp for the rest of your life is an option.

Coleman is too old to be fighting.. he should just retire. I love the guy and although I think he would beat Lesnar, I think it will be a challenge for him. Lesnar is really hungry now.. and doesn’t want to lose 2 in a row. Coleman just shouldn’t be putting himself in that position, especially straight after the induction to the hall of fame.

A lot of you are morons! Lucky or not. Frank, fighting a beast like Brock and coming out a winner and you’re talking shit?! why don’t you try taking that many hits and not get knocked out. Simply put, Mir has the experience and he got the job done!

    37. HeadShots? Says:
      May 14th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

So its not okay to hit someone to the back of the head, but its ok to break someone’s ankle?

Thats is really stupid. If the other guy is taking hits to the back of the head, he should tap out.

Call it “im getting hit in the back of the head tap out”.

Too much pussy rules in ufc. Everyone just wins by weasingly there way into the croch of the ref….how stupid and gay.

    40. james Says:
      June 1st, 2008 at 9:32 pm

anyone in any fight “could win the battle”. fact is lesner is not a good mma fighter yet. he’s a brawler. he needs to slow down and think a bit more before he goes wailng away. even with all the shots mir took, very little damage was actually done.

    41. Lesnersuckscock Says:

For those who haven’t spent much time as an MMA fan, Mir was a HORRIBLE first fight for lesnar. Mir is the rare heavy weight who is a BJJ monster. Mir has a weak chin, but he’s definately top 10 in the world at heavyweight. So all you ReSkLiN fans who tuned in to see your boy get his leg twisted off, welcome to the real world.

    44. naitch Says:
      June 21st, 2008 at 10:19 pm

This is a little late, but Mir was probably not the best guy to match Lesnar with. Lesnar had an impressive takedown to begin the round but was lost after that. Had his coaches reviewed tape of Mir they would’ve easily seen that his three losses were due to TKO. Lesnar IS late coming into MMA but to get caught by a kneebar by someone as proficient as Mir is not exactly something to be ashamed of.

Also, now that Coleman is injured (Coleman is WAY past his prime btw) whose bright idea was it to have Heath Herring step in??? Looks like they’re just trying to keep Lesnar down. Oh well…

    45. a Says:
      June 22nd, 2008 at 3:13 am

For all of you who say stopping the match because of a strike to the back of the head is an abuse of rules you are stupid. Its a rule and even if it is only once and by accident its still illegal. Anyways you usually get a warning the first time but since the illegal strike hurt frank he got a break and you notice a point wasnt subtracted so they recognised it was on purpose.

So its not okay to hit someone to the back of the head, but its ok to break someone’s ankle?

you are a retard hits to the back of the head are illegal because there dangerous. You can get knocked out really easy and well theres the top of the spine and a bunch of nerves plus theres a specific nerve at the back of the head if hard enough and damaged will kill you. Thats why there illegal.

    47. Rick Says:
      June 30th, 2008 at 9:54 am

I dont think he really got cocky,he did what most inexperienced guys do when you grab their foot they try to pull away. If he had sat down on that leg the way Ian Freeman did against Mir. He wouldve had free shots to Franks face. He just defended wrong, thats it.

    48. Jesus Says:
      July 3rd, 2008 at 1:11 am

Heath Herring is a great fighter and has good wrestling ability, but I still think that Lesnar has a good chance against him because his wrestling is just top notch. I mean holy crap, the guy was a 4-time NCAA all-american! That means he was a top guy EVERY YEAR in college. His record was something ridiculous, like 106-5. And I’m pretty sure he hits damn hard, his hands could only fit into 4XL gloves. Those are the same size that Hong Man Choi wears.

At least we know that he can whip Kimbo. Why do people still think that Kimbo Slice can take Lesnar? Kimbo doesn’t fight anyone worth crap, and he doesn’t have a ground game. If Lesnar can pull a double leg on Frank Mir, a BJJ Black Belt and Former Champ, in 5 seconds, then he can do just the same to Kimbo the noob. The only thing Kimbo knows how to do is put on a guillotine. Lesnar will GnP that punk.

    49. e g Says:
      July 5th, 2008 at 5:48 am

a great fight, the referee was fair, a rule is a rule, knocking at the back of the head is illegal while arm bars or leg bars are legal, therefore Mir won the match on his own, no doubt Brock is a good fighter and will rule the MMA some times from now.

I lost a lot of respect for Steve Mazagatti because of this fight. Not only did he prematurely penalize Lesnar, he was obviously biased as he hesitated during the OBVIOUS tap-out by Lesnar. Very dissapointing. If he’s willing to do this, I wouldn’t want him reffing one of my fights. It’s too bad such a great career should be tarnished by such a poor performance tonight.

Brock was all over him, man i wish brock jus got a couple more shots in on his face mir would have been str8 out. I think Brock lost it whils he was standing over mir holding his feet giving mir a chance to sort himself out and get ready for his next move, shoulda stayed on him and kept pounding.

Still brock goes on to win his next match and so is not too disheartened.

But yeah id like to see him going up against mir once again i think its obvious what the outcome would be.
